Rambles Regarding Politics : 10.25.03 @ 10:50 pm

Im getting so weary of capitalism. Of our society in general.
I mean... I know that it works. But to paraphrase what my friend Sean said, it sucks that it works because its an endless cycle of greed. Greedy consumers create demand, greedy big businesses supply the demand.
Every one of us is controlled by capitalism.
If you dont believe me, who made the computer youre sitting at? Who supplies your internet service? Who made your car? Who supplies the gas for your car? How many times a week do you go to Starbucks? McDonalds? The Mall?

I guess I wouldnt have such an issue with capitalism if it was more of a socialistic-capitalist hybrid. I cant believe Im saying this, after all the times Ive teased a classmate about being an actual member of the socialist party.
Socialism has its issues too, obviously.

I think Im going to start working on A Great Social Order plan. One hundred years down the road itll be known as [my last name]-ism, which will be great because my ultra-conservative fathers name will forever be used as a term for a liberal post-capitalist system. Like Marx meets Ayn Rand and have a love child... and without Lenin, Stalin, or Reagans input.
On the thought of a child of both Karl Marx and Ayn Rand, can you say millions of dollars in therapy? I think if I had those two extremes as parents Id want to kill myself.

Still on the topic of political science, I am so sick of both the Democrats and the Republicans. Both of them spend more time bitching about the other then actually doing something. Just stop whining, shut up, and do your damn job. Please.
I love how Conservatives complain about liberal interest groups and how they shouldnt be allowed to talk/do the things they say/do. Yet the moment a liberal group has beef with a Conservative Christian interest group, the Conservatives are the first to wail about freedom of speech. And visa versa.
Again. Just shut up. All of you damned politicians.

Ive been thinking about going into photojournalism. Mixing my love-hate relationship with political science and my love of photography... and Id get to travel a lot and *hopefully* take the pictures that end up in the history books some day...

Things to do. Chapters to read. I feel like Im in college. Only not half as interesting.
